All modern washing machines have a heating element for heating water. But some users, in order to save money, decide to connect the machine directly to the water pipe with hot water, while dreaming to save on a communal apartment.
How justified this decision is and when the connection to the hot pipe is really rational, you will learn from this article. We will consider whether it is possible to connect the washing machine to hot water, describe what it will take and how to do it yourself.
Worth it or not
The manufacturer usually provides the connection exclusively to cold water. But there are such models in which the possibility of double connection is realized - both to the cold pipe and to the hot one.
If you have a regular machine, and you do not know what water to connect it to, then you should know that it is better not to violate the manufacturer's instructions. If the instructions indicate that the connection is only cold, do so. Otherwise, the following consequences are possible:
- TEN will burn out much faster, despite the fact that, according to the logic, it should not be used and, it seems, can last longer.
- Wash quality will decrease. Some things, especially those made from delicate fabrics, can just go bad. If water is supplied at a temperature of 60 degrees in your water pipe, even if you select a 30-degree washing mode, the thing will fall into the water with the temperature that goes in the pipe - the machine will not be able to lower the water temperature.
- In the cma can get a lot of litter and dirt, since hot water is considered technical and does not undergo such treatment as cold. To get clean water into the machine, you need a fine filter, and such a purchase will cost you a pretty penny.
- The water intake hose is often made of plastic or other materials not designed for high temperature water, so be prepared for frequent replacement of this detail.
There are pluses to this connection, for which, in fact, it is chosen by some advanced users. You can save on electricity - this is a fact. But, given that the cost of hot water is not much lower than the price of energy, the benefit is highly doubtful.
What you need to connect the machine
If you have a machine without heating water or a model that connects to both hot and cold water, the following instructions will be useful to you. In the design of such an SMA, there are two inlet hoses at once, so the connection will differ from the standard. Read how to connect such a machine, below.
Let's start with the toolkit. You will need:
- adjustable wrench;
- ¾ inch spacer rings (silicone or rubber);
- 2 trunk tees on ¾ with a lateral outlet to the water intake hose;
If the tee tap is installed in a conspicuous place, for example, in the bathroom on the mixer, then choose beautiful chrome options. For hidden fit any cranes.
- adapters to ¾;
- flow filters on ¾.
Important! Use an adjustable wrench carefully to avoid spoiling the chrome-plated mixer nuts. If you are afraid to spoil the coating, cover the elements with electrical tape so as not to scratch the chrome parts.
How to connect
There are several connection options: simple - to the mixer (here you can figure it out yourself) - and more complex, but reliable. Let’s dwell on it.
Proceed as follows:
Now that the washing machine is connected to both pipes, you can use it according to the instructions.
And if there is no double connection in your washing machine at the factory, we recommend avoiding it - it’s better to pay a little more for utility bills than to go soon for new parts to the typewriter.
