While washing, we assume that not all contaminants can be washed off the first time. But the fact that after washing there are stains on things becomes a complete surprise for most owners of automatic machines. We will find out why the washing machine stains laundry and how to deal with it.
SMA is working - why do spots appear?
Putting things in the drum of the washing machine - it’s completely clean in appearance, users can get linen covered with marks of a different shade at the exit. Their color can be any, and it depends, as a rule, on the reasons for their appearance. So, linen after washing can be covered with yellow, blue, blue, rusty, gray, black, brown and other spots.
If you believe the masters working in the service for the repair and maintenance of washing machines (CMA), in most cases the device itself is not related to dirty things - the appearance of spots, as a rule, is associated with a violation of the rules for its operation.
There are many reasons for the appearance of multi-colored contaminants in washed products - starting from low-quality water and ending with wear of the stuffing box. The easiest way to diagnose the cause of contamination is by their color. Find out where the spots of different colors come from and what to do to prevent them from appearing.
Colored
Often on washed items - white and light, there are marks of a very different shade - pink, red, blue, green and others. If their color repeats the coloring of colored items washed with white linen, the most common thing for this case is probably molting.
Fabrics dyed in bright colors often fade during washing, especially on high-temperature cycles. More often than not, red and blue items become the cause of “tarnish”. So, new blue jeans easily stain their lighter “neighbors” with blue tracks.
How to prevent:
- Do not load light-colored items into the drum with brightly colored items.
- When washing color and white together, set the temperature to 40 ° C.
Brown and orange
If on the fabrics after washing in the SMA there are marks of brown, orange and yellow shades, it is worth suspecting that the sources of pollution lie in rusty water. Rust is often present in old water pipes, the risk of its occurrence after repair of main pipelines is especially high.
After turning off the water supply, rust is most often present in the water. Immediately after switching on, water flows from the taps dark, brown. It must be lowered for a long time before you start using it, including a washing machine. It happens that SMA is on delayed start-up and starts without draining water - right on rusty-brown water, it is not surprising that after this there are traces of rust on things.
Measures to prevent the problem depend on the cause of the rust:
- Rusty water. To eliminate the problem, a filter is placed on the cold line. And in houses of the old construction, filters are needed that perform rough and fine cleaning.
- Broken dryer. If rusty marks occur after drying, then it's time to change the dryer.
Blue and purple
Due to color correctors - chemical and optical brighteners used in powders for white products, blue marks may remain - violet, lilac, and gray. Bleaches are needed to mask yellowness - if it is absent, proofreaders paint light fabrics in violet and bluish tones.
Users who go too far with the powder or choose the wrong temperature regime provoke a problem - the granules of the color corrector do not dissolve properly, and marks of violet shades appear on the tissues.
Many powders contain blue granules - their composition is similar to ordinary blue. These granules should have a whitening effect, but if poorly diluted, they may leave blue marks.
So that there is no blue on light things, it is enough to abandon synthetic detergents (SMS) with color correctors.
Whites
White streaks on washed clothes are clear evidence of an overdose of powder. Divorces are especially clearly visible on dark tissues. With an excess of powder, there are difficulties in rinsing it. Poor rinsing leads to the formation of whitened marks.
Causes of white divorces and preventive measures:
- Excess dosage. To prevent divorces, it is enough to follow the rules for using SMS. Falling asleep in powder form, the weight and degree of soiling of the laundry should be taken into account.
- Exceeding loading standards. Overloading results in poor rinse quality. To avoid the problem, it is enough to comply with the loading standards of the drum.
Yellow on white
If oil - cooking or cosmetic - gets on white cloth, it is almost invisible. On washed products, these oil traces become more noticeable - the "manifestation" of fats is due to interaction with heated water.
How to avoid the problem:
- Apply pre-soak.
- Use products that remove fat.
- The use of amplifiers, bleaches, bio-powders with enzymes - all of them cope well with fat.
White and yellow on delicate fabrics
If whitish or yellowish traces are visible on down jackets, sportswear, silk and wool, the powder is probably the wrong one. Outerwear, membrane fabrics, silk and wool should be washed with special SMS. It is important to choose the right mode and temperature, as well as start an additional rinse. One or two rinses is clearly not enough for down jackets and delicate fabrics.
Also, marks of other colors may appear on linen - due to the accidental contact of cosmetics or other substances on fabrics.
Important! Remember to wash your hands before removing laundry from the drum.
SMA Failures - Causes of Stains
Dark traces indicate the causes of pollution associated with the state of the washing machine. If you take care of the device irregularly, problems can appear from different angles. Consider cases of laundry contamination caused by technical problems and poor care of the AGR.
Cuff is dirty
Wipe the cuff regularly. If this is not done, then dirt accumulates in the crease of the cuff, and then mold - a gray coating forms. The result is gray marks. To fix the problem, brush the cuff. Do this carefully, but carefully so as not to damage the cuff.
Leaked oil seal
If the washing machine leaked from the bearings, the drum seal probably “flew”. It should be replaced with a new one. As soon as the gland has flowed, the device is immediately stopped, otherwise water will get on the bearings and they will rust. The oil seal should be replaced as soon as possible, it is worth delaying, and the bearings will rust - they will creak and make other unpleasant sounds. Rust causes dirty laundry.
Replacing the stuffing box requires replacing the bearings - this procedure is best left to professionals. If the tank is collapsible and the owner of the machine wants to change the damaged parts himself, you need to buy bearings - 2 pieces, and an oil seal. Choose the right bearing - get the old ones and look at their number, and then buy exactly the same or suitable analogues.
Due to worn oil seals, oil or fuel oil appears on the washed clothes, as these parts throw oil into the tank during wear, which then gets onto the fabric.
Gland replacement procedure:
- Dismantling the top panel.
- Removing the bottom cover.
- Removing the front panel.
- Dismantling the rubber cuff.
- Analysis of the tank of the machine - in two parts.
- Replacing bearings and seals.
The tank is very fragile, so bearings should be knocked out extremely carefully. New bearings clog to places previously polished to a shine. The new oil seal is lubricated with waterproof oil and inserted into place. Read more with photos and videos here.
The pump, tank or nozzle is dirty
A clogged drain system is another reason for things getting dirty. The pump, tank and nozzles can become clogged in two ways:
- Mechanical. In the drainage system, by chance, there are foreign objects blocking its operation. It can be any small items - coins, buttons, etc.
- Natural. These blockages form gradually - due to the ingress of wool, hair, villi, etc.
To clean the system, you must:
- Clean the clog in the drain filter drain.
- If there is no garbage in the drain, the AGR is disconnected from the power supply, water supply and drainage system - for the convenience of work. Tilt the device to the left - to get to the pump and nozzles, which should also be checked for blockage.
- If there is no blockage there, remove the pump, and then the motor - to open the way to the main pipe leading to the waste filter.
- If there is no blockage in the pipe, you will have to contact a specialist to find out the source of the problem.
How to eliminate the blockage yourself:
- They remove dirt or objects stuck in the system, directly with your hand or with something thin, such as a screwdriver. There can be a lot of blockages, so removing one of them does not guarantee a solution to the problem.
- Along with mechanical cleaning, it is useful to carry out chemical cleaning of the system - using a special cleaning agent. A drug, such as Dr. Beckmann, fall asleep in the cuvette and turn on the machine in 90 degree mode. The product can be poured directly into the drum - if there is dirt on its walls.
Mold in the interior of the AGR
Lack of care for the SMA or its improper conduct leads to the formation of mold. It can appear in various parts of the washing machine - in the detergent tray, in the cuff, in the drum, tank, pipes. Because of mold, spots also appear.
Why does mold appear:
- closing the wet compartment under the detergent;
- closing the drum door immediately after removing items.
Ventilation and drying of the machine helps to prevent the formation of mold - so, according to the instructions for the user, the hatch door after the SMA is not closed for some time, but it is better to keep it ajar all the time.
You can guess the presence of mold by smell - just sniff at the “inside” of the drum. To find out where there is mold, proceed as follows:
- Bend the cuff and inspect all the cracks.
- Inspect the inner walls of the drum.
- Look into the detergent drawer.
- Remove the cuvette and inspect it.
If you find a dark fluffy coating in at least one of the places to be examined, it will become clear where the gray dirt comes from on washed items.
If mold starts up in the washer, things will smell unpleasant even after using the best air conditioner.
Mold removal procedure:
- pour soda into the cuvette - about 300 g;
- choose the maximum water temperature;
- start the device at "idle", turning on double rinse.
The process is repeated until the mold is completely eliminated.
Rust
If an object susceptible to corrosion gets stuck inside the washer, then it can cause rust stains. For example, a nail, a paper clip, and other metal trifle dropped out of pockets can rust. Once inside the cuff, they begin to rust there, and the owner of the AGR does not suspect the presence of a small "saboteur" until he manifests himself. The user's task is to quickly detect and remove a foreign object from a secluded place.
Water softeners are used to prevent rust inside the washer.
To remove traces of rust, pour salt on top and then lemon juice. After a day - wash the soiled thing. If it does not help, you will have to purchase a special stain remover.
If you choose and dispense powders correctly, follow the operating rules of the washing machine, then the washing result will be the one we are counting on. Any violation or lack of care for SMA can result in damage to things with a further waste of time and effort to correct the consequences of negligence.
