There are breakdowns that require immediate repair. One of such cases is when the Ariston washing machine does not spin the drum. You have to manually wash the batch of linen, and then look for the cause of the problem in order to restore the operation of the equipment. Fortunately, any malfunctions can be dealt with.
Ariston washing machine does not spin the drum: reason
Where to begin? Sit down and remember from what moment the equipment refused to work. Characteristic symptoms indicate the cause of the trouble. If the machine poured water, but the washing process did not start or slightly twisted the drum and stopped, then:
- an imbalance has occurred;
- frayed, fly off the drive belt;
- burned out heating element (TEN);
- engine defective;
- the tachogenerator is out of order;
- problems with the control module;
- difficulties with wiring;
- A foreign object is stuck between the tank and the drum.
Wow! The list is huge. How to find a defective part? We will tell you everything as soon as we consider another type of breakdown. If the Hotpoint Ariston CMA does not spin the spin drum only, the reason is probably the following:
- clogged drain system;
- water level sensor is out of order;
- defective electronic module.
The problem may be commonplace. For example, you turned off the spin and forgot to turn it on or reduced the speed. Check out this item. In addition, scroll the drum with your hands. Not amenable to? Then it is possible:
- a damaged belt blocked the pulley;
- a foreign object is stuck in the drum;
- spoiled bearing.
In the latter case, when the bearing is damaged, a rattle and hum can be heard. Such symptoms are difficult to ignore. If you suddenly hear that the washer is buzzing, but does not rotate the drum, the engine is probably the problem.
We will analyze the reasons one by one in order to find and fix the malfunction of the Ariston machine.
Eliminate the imbalance
Move from simple to complex. After checking the program settings, look in the hatch. Is the laundry on one side? This indicates an imbalance. Apparently, the machine could not fix the problem, so it stopped working. Your task:
- Disconnect the equipment from the network.
- Open a small door at the very bottom of the case (for most Ariston models, the drain filter is hidden behind a solid panel).
- Replace the container, unscrew the filter and drain the water.
Now open the hatch and distribute things manually. You can also remove half of the laundry if the tank is openly full. Try to start the wash again.
We put back the drive belt
The system works like this: after switching on, the current is supplied to the engine and its pulley starts to rotate. Turnovers are transmitted through the belt to the tank pulley, which ensures the operation of the machine and the washing of the laundry. It is enough to remove the key element - the belt, so that the chain is interrupted and work stops.
What to do:
- After disconnecting the SMA from electricity, turn off the water and unscrew the supply hoses.
- Turn the washer housing, unscrew the screws on the rear panel.
- Inspect the belt. Tears, abrasions, stretching indicate replacement of the part.
If the belt just flies off (happens with strong vibration), then put it on the motor pulley first, and then on the tank pulley.
We replace TEN
It is not difficult to replace the heating element, but understanding that it is really defective is another matter. To do this, you need a tester (multimeter). If there is no device, then it is better to contact the master. It will not be superfluous to familiarize yourself with the algorithm for replacing the heater in the SMA "Hotpoint Ariston":
- In most cases, the heater is located behind the rear wall of the machine. Sometimes you need to remove only a small basement panel.
- Disconnect the terminals from the heater and connect the probes of the multimeter. A faulty part will show from 10 to 30 Ohms, a faulty one will show 1 or infinity.
- To replace, unscrew the central nut of the heater and press the bolt inward.
- Take out the old and put in a new part.
When replacing the heater, shine a flashlight in the hole to check the tank for foreign objects. You can get the item using a thin wire.
Check the new heater by washing at 70–80 degrees. If the glass of the hatch is hot, and at the exit things are warm, then the element is working properly.
Inspect the engine
The motor is powered and you can hear it humming. But when scrolling, the drum rotates, and when washing - no. Here is what could happen to the engine:
- Worn brushes. Two parts transmit current to the motor collector. Over time, they are erased, and the chain is broken.
- Inter-turn short circuit or open winding. When you turn on the machine indoors, it may knock out traffic jams.
The video clearly shows the replacement of brushes in the engine:
Problems require careful diagnosis and replacement of faulty elements. True, when the winding is broken, it is easier to install a new motor. This happens during power surges. The engine is located at the rear under the tank. To replace, disconnect the wires and unscrew the mounting bolts.
A tachometer is located on the motor shaft, which controls the speed of revolutions. At the same time, check the part, tighten the fasteners more tightly.
Check the pressure switch
The level sensor measures the amount of water in the tank. Until the device sends a signal to the control module, the machine will not continue the program. How to be:
- Remove the top cover of the CMA by unscrewing the bolts at the back.
- Look for a small round part near the side wall.
- Disconnect the wiring and unscrew the mounting of the pressure switch.
- To check, connect the tube to the fitting and blow into it.
If clicks are heard at the same time, the sensor is operational. If silence - out of order. Buy a new part and install in the reverse order.
What will help prevent future problems:
- A close inspection of things for foreign objects before loading.
- Proper loading of laundry, according to the norm in the instructions.
- Connection of equipment through a voltage regulator.
- Proper installation of the machine according to the level.
These recommendations will help to avoid excessive vibration and rapid wear of parts, as well as prevent damage to the electronics. Repairing equipment is difficult, but thanks to the recommendations, you can assess the extent of the breakdown and draw conclusions.
