Tamburate is a structural material consisting of two outer sheets and a filler. The outer layer may be made of wood-based material or drywall with surface veneering. The middle is made of hard cardboard and is located in the form of honeycombs with sizes from 15 to 25 mm. Tamburat does not have certain dimensions. Manufacturers offer different sizes of sheets. Thickness is from 30 to 240 mm, length is from 2400 to 3000 mm, and width is from 600 to 1300 mm.
Material benefits
The idea of panels with a honeycomb structure was proposed back in 1943, but only 20 years later it was realized in the furniture industry. The next step of the manufacturers is the choice of filler for this material, and soon a tamburate with honeycombs from compacted cardboard is being created.
Tamburat has just begun to gain popularity. This is due to the properties of the material. The advantages of these plates are in a hollow design.
Benefits:
Ease of processing: tamburate is easily cut with any tool, parts of different shapes and complexity can be made from it.
Possibility of flush mounting, as the cardboard core of the plate allows you to build a hidden wiring and hide the fasteners inside the plate. Tamburate furniture does not lose its appearance and acquires functionality. Concealed wiring is convenient in the manufacture of computer desks or office furniture.
Fixing materials. Accessories for tamburate have the same properties and design as similar raw materials. Selection of fasteners will not cause difficulties. However, the thinnest sheets require the use of built-in accessories, which must be ordered from specialists. The uniformity of the fasteners allows you to fasten the tambourine with other more familiar materials, for example, chipboard or chipboard.
Strength. Thick cardboard honeycombs help the tamburate withstand a sufficiently high pressure in the horizontal plane without noticeable deformation. Vertical loads allow bending sheets without losing their original stiffness and strength. Because of this feature, thin tamburate is often used in the manufacture of convex structural elements.
The choice of coatings. Popularity has allowed manufacturers to establish the release of many types of coverage. Products from this material are available in any color, which is taken into account in the design of interiors
Light weight. The external dimensions of the tamburate do not coincide with the mass of the plates. In this regard, the material has properties that allow it to be used in large-scale structures, fragments of which can be easily moved.
Cost. Tamburat is one of the most accessible materials in its category. Finding a similar price-to-functionality ratio is difficult. Products from these plates are several times cheaper than others, and the level of quality and durability of the finished product remain high.
Plate Types
Tamburate can vary not only in the size and thickness of the sheets. Manufacturers offer several different types of boards.. Their difference is in the characteristics of the coating of the outer layer. Depending on the species, they require additional processing.
- The use of uncoated boards involves covering the outer layer with paper-laminate or veneer.
- Coated plates are veneered with natural wood veneer, paper-laminated layer or PVC film.
- Standardly decorated plates are ready for further work, thanks to the factory lining of special types of varnished paper, veneer or plastic. The only preparatory work that should be done is the selection of a suitable edge color. Tamburat is executed "under a tree" or simply in dark tones.
The choice of accessories for honeycomb plates requires a special approach to the strength characteristics of joints. In critical places it is better to use gaskets or adhesive cartridges to fill voids, expanding the area of application of force to the surface of the part.
Application
Tamburat has a narrow focus. It is used to make furniture. There are two ways to use this raw material in production. The first is for volumetric structures. Particularly often, tamburate is replaced with wood chipboards in open areas of the finished product.
The second way is to create furniture collections made entirely of this material. Such furniture is made easier than products from other wood-containing materials, can have the most sophisticated forms and differ in practicality.
Tambural slabs can be used in almost all types of furniture, except for items for bathrooms.
